UAB Fan Day

Today was UAB Fan Day!!! Woo Hoo!! It was held at the Riverchase Galleria from 11:00 to 1:00 and included players signing the new football posters, entertainment from the cheerleaders & dancers, lots of giveaways (shakers, banners, schedules, CHICK-FIL-A), & an appearance from Blaze! Another Visitor & School Blog

Today we had a visit from another community helper! Officer Didcoct is a policeman with the Homewood Police Dept. & shared lots of important info with our 2nd graders. We even got to check out his patrol car.
There are more pics, but they have my kiddos in them, so I have to leave them off.
Remember, you can go to my class blog now & check them out!

to keep up with Mrs. Bowens' classroom! :)

Visitors!

Our second graders have been learning about communities & important people that have specific jobs within the community. Today, we had a visit from some important community helpers!

Our Fearless Firemen!
Lt. Morrow is dishin' out the info
One of our fave parts -
the suit!
What a cool visit!!
Oh, and we learned lots of stuff too! :)

Sadly, I can't show all of our fab 2nd graders on my personal blog, but here's good news . . .
I HAVE A CLASS BLOG!!
You can see many cute pics of my students & our many school happenings there.
& check it out!

After lunch, it was time for this week's mystery reader . . .
Coach Bowens!!
A big thanks to my wonderful hubby who took time out of his
busy, busy schedule to come read to my class.
And it had nothing to do with his wife trying to
guilt trip him into it . . .
He read "Nobody's Mother Is In Second Grade!"
Get the significance?!?
Taylor is the only 2nd grader whose mother
actually IS in 2nd grade!
I thought it would be cute to read.
My kiddos got it right off. :)

We have more visitors scheduled for tomorrow.
Stay tuned to see who stops by . . .

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

One of my dad's old baseball buddies/current golfing buddy, Skeeter Barnes, coaches for the Montgomery Biscuits. They've been playing in a series with the Birmingham Barons at the Hoover Met this week. So, we tagged along with my parents and spent a Friday night at the ballpark . . .
SOMEONE (A 5TH GRADER) is too old to pose
with his glove for the pic. . .
Hey Skeeter!
SOMEONE (a 2nd grader) was poised & ready to catch a ball
THE WHOLE GAME!!!
My mom had to get my pic since "You never have pics of yourself!"
Our food has arrived!
And yes, it's in a HUGE BOX!!! :)
DA CORNDOG
DA DIPPIN DOTS
Taylor made a new friend, of course!
Tanner started getting restless.
We had to pull out the Elmo videos.
Bye Skeeter!
