The Arkansas State Game

This time last week (a Tuesday night), we were out at the football field for an early week game. The benefit of scheduling a game during the week is the national exposure (this was the only college football game on ESPN that night), plus there's the opportunity to give the players some time to rest, recuperate, & recover (w/ no games being played the Saturday before or after, the schedule is tweaked & rest time put in).

So, last Tuesday, we quickly got homework started (it was finished on the ride to the game), changed clothes, & headed to Ladd. A huge "Tailgate Tuesday" had been set up...lots of vendors & team sponsors offering FREE food & drinks at tents as a band entertained the crowd. It was pretty neat; we ate & ate...Chick-fil-A, Foosackly's, Moe's, Sonny's BBQ, Winn Dixie, just to name a few among many...& were happily stuffed by the time we headed inside the stadium at game time.
Kallie & I were twinsies...
we wore black leggings, black tops & each had a "pop of jaguar"...
have I mentioned how fun it is having a girl?!
Love how she's looking up at me...
Tailgate time!
We played Arkansas State, our 2nd conference foe of the season. They beat us pretty bad at their place last season, so this game was important -- we needed to get a little revenge (hee hee) & look good on national TV. Our Jags came out looking GREAT!!! We played really well the first 3 quarters...then things seemed to unravel from there...the wheels just fell off...& we lost a heartbreaker.
Watching Coach Bowens get his headset on
Fortunately, we've been in football a long time...we know how to pick ourselves up from defeat & cheer on our guys as we prepare for the next one. South heads to San Antonio this weekend to take on Texas State. We'll be watching online & cheering our guys on to victory!!!

Highlight of the night -- some of the coaches' kids, including my 3 boys, getting on TV...multiple times! We got lots of texts, calls, & videos from people who saw them. They were pumped!!
This is when the ESPN crew came over to film the kids. Guess our kiddos were great TV...they came over several times!
