The Nebraska Game

The Jags headed to Lincoln this past weekend to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers for their first road trip of the season. Facing this Big Ten powerhouse was definitely a step out of our conference & league, but we were all so proud of the way our coaches & players gave it their all & played with enormous heart. We're definitely proud of & love our Jags!!

The coaches' wives decided to make brownies to send with the players on their trip. I decided to also make goody bags for Tim's guys, GAs, & student assistants. You know I wanted them to be extra cute (although I'm sure that only mattered to me; my hubby & the guys probably didn't even give them a second look!) I was up slaving away on Thursday night...
Elise (our HC's wife) sent a couple pics from
the plane & upon arrival
My crew was super excited about the game & that we'd get to watch on TV (we usually have to watch the away games we don't travel to on the computer). This game aired on the Big Ten Network. The 2 little ones cracked us up getting pumped up before the game! This was HILARIOUS!!!
Since we couldn't get pics at the stadium, we did the next best thing - paused the TV & snapped them from there! LOL!!!
When we see this guy appear on the screen,
there's lots of screaming in my house...
I love these fans!!
We didn't come away with the win, which is always tough no matter who you're up against. By the end of the game, Timothy was upset, Taylor was asleep, Tanner was very sad (just short of crying), & Kallie was dumping stuff out of my purse again. Tanner asked me if we "were still jaguar fans since we lost." I told him we're fans of our team(s) no matter what, win or lose. He didn't seem so sure about that! He wants to win!!

Life of a coach's family...another football Saturday in the books...
on to another week & the chance to cheer on our team again...

The Gardner Webb Game

Finally...football is back!!!
Our season opener was Saturday at home versus Gardner Webb.

Pre-game was filled with the usual fun...
the Jag Prowl
Here they come!
Hey Coach Jones! Lookin' good!!
And there's Elise, THE SWEETEST head coaches' wife ever!!
a little tailgating
So glad my mom & sis spent the long weekend w/ us
& came along to the game!
Can you say diva?!
Tanner met up with some of his old preschool friends! He was especially happy to see his best friend, William. And look, they're missing the same tooth!!
Game Time!
I don't think anyone was more excited about the first game (& start of the season) than this little dude. The look of pure joy & excitement on his face as the Jags took the field pretty much sums it up! After our first two scores, he looked at me & exclaimed, "This is the best football season EVER!!!"
Our newest little football fan enjoyed the game too. She took a nap, snacked, & cheered loudly. I got whacked by the shaker several times!! She did so well at the game; being a football fan is in her blood, just like her brothers. That's how they're born & bred around our home...
TOUCHDOWN!!!
Great game, Coach Daddy!
Those runningbacks sure looked good tonight! :)
We had a full day of pre-game fun, an exciting football game (we won 33-23!), & 2 long lightning delays. We finally got home, settled down, & to bed around midnight. This was the morning after...yes, still in game clothes.
We had a fabulous start to the season with a great win & some happy kids! Our next 2 games are on the road...at Nebraska & at San Diego State...then we come home & take on NC State. September will be a tough stretch, but we're excited to cheer on our Jags & favorite coach every step of the way!!

GO JAGS!!!

Hangin' Out...

Somehow we (me & my precious 4) all always end up hanging out in the same room...usually the den, kitchen, or my bedroom.  Sometimes it drives me bonkers because I can't get a minute to myself; but then I think about those years to come when they won't be hanging out with me. When they'd rather be out with friends, or when they're in college, or when they move off to live in their own homes...& I treasure these moments so much more. Lately I find myself just sitting contentedly watching the four best things that ever happened to me...hanging out in my room.
